Upcoming iPhone 18 Pro Max Likely to Have Higher Price Tag
A Chinese source, Smart Pikachu, recently shared on Weibo that the anticipated price for the iPhone 18 Pro Max could start at around 11,000 yuan (approximately $1,625) in China. This would position it alongside other high-end foldable smartphones, as reported by tech site PhoneArena.
This estimated price reflects an increase of about $400 compared to the iPhone 17 Pro Max, which is priced at $1,199 in the United States. Additionally, Apple’s rumored foldable iPhone, possibly named the iPhone Ultra, might be even pricier, with analyst Ming-Chi Kuo speculating a cost of up to $2,500.
The price hike for the iPhone 18 Pro Max is believed to stem from rising production costs. The next-generation A20 Pro processor will utilize the advanced 2-nanometer manufacturing process from Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co., which could lead to higher expenses. Alongside this, increasing memory prices are also influencing overall production costs.
Recent leaks, which emerged following a cyberattack on Apple’s manufacturing partner, Tata Electronics, revealed design details about the 18 Pro. Alleged images show a silver-gray model that features a sleeker rear design, distinct from the two-tone finish of the 17 Pro. The camera lenses on this new model seem to protrude more, and the Apple logo now appears more reflective.
Apple is expected to adjust its product launch strategy with the upcoming lineup. Reports suggest that the iPhone 18 Pro, 18 Pro Max, and the foldable Ultra are set to be unveiled in September 2026. However, the standard iPhone 18, a more budget-friendly version dubbed the 18e, and a second generation iPhone Air are likely to be delayed until spring 2027. This marks a departure from Apple’s usual practice of launching its entire flagship series in the fall.
