PVR INOX Reports Strong Profit in Q1 FY27

PVR INOX has announced impressive results for the first quarter of FY27, achieving a profit after tax of ₹56.5 crore. This marks a significant turnaround from a loss of ₹54 crore during the same time last year. The company also saw its consolidated revenue grow by 10.4%, climbing to ₹1,622.2 crore, up from ₹1,469 crore a year earlier.

This positive performance comes amid a strong recovery in the theatrical business, with India’s overall box office collections increasing by 20% year-on-year during the quarter.

Diverse Film Lineup Drives Success

PVR INOX attributes its strong results to a diverse mix of Hindi, regional, and Hollywood films. Successful Hindi releases included Bhoot Bangla, Cocktail 2, and Main Wapas Aunga. Regional films also contributed significantly, with hits like Raja Shivaji (Marathi), Drishyam 3 (Malayalam), and Karuppu (Tamil) leading the way. Notable Hollywood films, such as Project Hail Mary, Michael, and Obsession, also attracted large audiences.

Increased Footfall and Spending

During this quarter, PVR INOX recorded 36.6 million admissions, reflecting an 8% increase from last year. The average ticket price rose to ₹273, which is an 8% increase, while the amount spent per customer went up by 9% to ₹161. This resulted in a 16% rise in ticket revenue, with food and beverage sales also seeing a 17% increase compared to the same quarter last year.

Significant Profit Growth

PVR INOX reported a remarkable improvement in profitability, with EBITDA nearly doubling to ₹229.6 crore. The EBITDA margin also increased from 8.2% to 14%, thanks to better operational efficiency. The company achieved a notable financial milestone by becoming net cash positive, ending the quarter with ₹80.7 crore in net cash as of June 30, 2026.

Management’s Take on Performance

Ajay Bijli, Managing Director of PVR INOX, commented on the results, highlighting the overall growth in the industry and improvements in the company’s operations. He stated, “With diverse content and a focus on enhancing customer experiences, we aim to drive footfalls and create lasting value for our shareholders.”

Following the release of these quarterly results, PVR INOX shares rose by 5.5% to ₹1,047.85 on the Bombay Stock Exchange, signaling positive investor confidence after the company’s return to profitability.
