Tuvalu Minister Visits Taiwan to Strengthen Digital and Energy Ties
TAIPEI — Tuvalu’s Minister for Transport, Energy, Communication, and Innovation, Simon Kofe, arrived in Taiwan on Sunday for a five-day trip aimed at enhancing digital infrastructure, communications, and energy security.
Kofe is accompanied by a four-member delegation, which includes Tenanoia Veronica Simona, the General Manager of Tuvalu Telecommunications Corporation, and Lauti Wayne Ako, Deputy Secretary of the ministry.
During their stay, Kofe and his team will engage with various Taiwanese government agencies and companies. Their discussions will revolve around information and communications technology, digital governance, improving network resilience, and energy development. Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung is set to host a banquet for the delegation during their visit.
This trip follows Lin’s visit to Tuvalu in March, where he met with Prime Minister Feleti Teo and Kofe. The talks back then included collaborations on projects like the Vaka submarine cable and efforts towards digital resilience and secure network infrastructure.
This marks Kofe’s third visit to Taiwan, as both nations continue to strengthen their partnership.
