Arjun Rampal’s Billionaire ignites buzz: Is he portraying Vijay Mallya or Lalit Modi in Hansal Mehta’s latest?

Arjun Rampal is set to return to the spotlight with his upcoming OTT series titled Billionaire, following the success of his previous works Dhurandhar and Dhurandhar The Revenge. Directed by the talented Hansal Mehta, this new series has already piqued interest, especially regarding the role Rampal will play.

Billionaire is described as a gripping tale about a wealthy business mogul, delving into themes of ambition and the costs associated with success. While specific plot points are largely undisclosed, the premise hints at real-life inspirations, leading to speculation about potentially familiar figures.

One name commonly mentioned is that of Vijay Mallya, known for his extravagant lifestyle and known as the “King of Good Times.” His dramatic rise and subsequent difficulties in the business world make his story a rich source for storytelling.

Another figure attracting attention is Lalit Modi, the former chairman of the IPL, recognized for revolutionizing cricket into a global spectacle. His impactful role in the sport and the controversies surrounding it have sparked thoughts that Billionaire might reflect aspects of his life, particularly regarding power struggles and corporate drama.

However, insiders suggest that the series may not focus on a single person. Instead, it might weave together traits from various real-life individuals to create a fictional yet relatable business tycoon. This approach allows the creators to explore deeper themes while keeping the narrative flexible.

For Hansal Mehta, Billionaire appears to be a fitting next step in his career, known for crafting realistic dramas that resonate with audiences, such as his acclaimed Scam series.

Co-directed by Robbie Grewal and featuring a script by Anubhav Chopra and Shantanu Sagara, the series is being produced by Prabhleen Sandhu under Almighty Motion Pictures. It will stream on Amazon MX Player, adding to its growing collection of original content.

As the buzz continues around the series, fans remain eager to see if Arjun Rampal’s character draws inspiration from figures like Mallya or Modi, or if it represents a blend of different personalities. Regardless, Billionaire is already becoming one of the most anticipated shows in the OTT landscape.
