Business Booms as College World Series Draws Crowds in Omaha
OMAHA, Neb. — As the College World Series reaches its halfway point, local restaurants and bars near Charles Schwab Field are experiencing outstanding sales.
Business owners are thrilled with the influx of customers. Robert Malm, who runs Hook and Lime, shared that last Saturday was their best sales day ever in nearly eight years of operation. “It was absolutely crazy,” he said. “We didn’t have a moment to slow down from opening to closing.”
Many eateries in the area reported record-breaking sales that day, even those that have been in business for over a decade. Jacki McKeighan, owner of The Trap Room, noted, “Saturday was a record day for us for sure. We aim to improve a little each year, and this year we have great teams competing, so everyone is celebrating.”
Malm acknowledged the combination of large crowds and the hard work of his team for managing the busy day. “The massive influx of people, along with my incredible team, helped us serve customers quickly,” he explained.
Fans are flocking to nearby spots before and after games, excited to grab a drink or food just a short walk from the stadium. “The level of activity right around the stadium is undeniable,” Malm added.
McKeighan, who has been bartending during this series for years, mentioned that preparation is key. “We’ve been here since 2013, so we know the drill. We’re ready to serve,” she said.
Both bar owners agreed that LSU fans are particularly loyal, regularly showing up regardless of whether the team is playing. “There always seem to be LSU supporters around,” Malm remarked. McKeighan added that the fans had already started arriving early in the week, ready to enjoy themselves.
For fans following the popular Rocco’s Jello Shot Challenge, LSU is currently leading with over 13,789 shots sold.
As the series continues, local businesses are excited about the lively atmosphere and the boost it brings to their sales.
