Indian Activist Sonam Wangchuk Ends 26-Day Hunger Strike

Sonam Wangchuk, a notable Indian activist, announced on Friday that he has concluded his hunger strike after 26 days. In a message shared on the platform X, he explained that he made this decision following extensive discussions regarding various issues and in light of growing concerns about potential violence in the country.

Wangchuk, who is 59 years old, began his hunger strike on June 28 to support the “cockroach movement,” which is led by young people in India. This movement is calling for the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan due to recent leaks in medical college entrance exam papers.

In related news, a court in India has permitted that Wangchuk be transferred to a private hospital to receive medical care.
