KUWAIT: Zain Kuwait has partnered with Kuwait University’s Capstone Program, allowing students from the Computer Science Department to turn their academic knowledge into practical solutions that tackle real business challenges.

Students were presented with actual problems that different industries face, prompting them to research, analyze, and come up with innovative tech solutions. These projects ranged widely, focusing on areas such as artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, digital security, inclusion, and professional skills development.

Zain’s involvement highlights its dedication to empowering the next generation with digital skills, fostering environments that stimulate creativity and teamwork. By blending theoretical learning with hands-on experiences, the program enhances students’ readiness for careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). The company’s Innovation Ambassadors were crucial throughout the process, offering their expertise in preparing project briefs, mentoring students, and sharing valuable knowledge as the students worked on their projects.

Additionally, the ambassadors assessed the feasibility of the proposed solutions, ensuring they met market needs and could add value to Zain and other relevant sectors. They explored ways to further develop these projects into market-ready solutions or entrepreneurial opportunities.

The program goes beyond just meeting academic requirements or creating prototypes; it teaches students the importance of developing solutions based on real user needs. They learned to test and refine their ideas continuously, examining their potential to become successful products or services. This initiative also underscores the significance of collaboration between the private sector and educational institutions in nurturing the next generation of innovators.

By participating in this program, students not only enhanced their technical skills but also gained insights into real-world challenges with guidance from industry professionals, effectively bridging the gap between education and employment.

Zain is committed to supporting programs that foster innovation and entrepreneurship among young people, helping them turn their ideas into practical solutions that offer economic and social benefits. This mission also plays a part in promoting digital transformation and building a knowledge-based economy.

Several innovative projects emerged from this collaboration, including Krino, an AI platform designed to help banks improve their compliance processes. Another notable project, HyperLocal, uses IoT technology to assist small businesses in adhering to regulations through real-time monitoring and alerts.

Students also developed INERTIA, a digital platform focused on business continuity and governance, ensuring data remains secure. In terms of social solutions, they created Al-Motarjim, an app that translates Kuwaiti Sign Language into Arabic using AI and computer vision, enhancing communication and accessibility.

Other projects included Zain ReVerse, a system for detecting fraudulent calls in real-time, and TruePick, a digital platform that manages campaigns and prize draws efficiently. Lastly, Tadreeb connects students with practical training opportunities, helping them build essential skills and gain experience before graduation.
