Sandhya Reddy Elected as Mayor of Strathfield Council in Sydney
In a historic achievement, Sandhya Reddy, who hails from Hyderabad, India, has been elected as the mayor of the Strathfield Council in Sydney, Australia. She is the first Indian-born migrant woman to take on this prestigious role in the country.
Known affectionately as Sandy, Reddy has been a part of the Strathfield Council since her election as an independent councillor in 2021. She began her community service journey with the State Emergency Service in 2014. In 2023, she was appointed as the deputy mayor, building on her commitment to serving the local community.
