Maharashtra’s Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Commissioner, Tukaram Mundhe, has reacted to a recent show of support from actress Preity Zinta for state food-safety initiatives. Zinta was spotted wearing a black T-shirt that reads “Team Tukaram Mundhe,” which caught the attention of many online.
Mundhe expressed his gratitude for Zinta’s public endorsement, even though he mentioned that he has not had a personal conversation with her. “I haven’t spoken to her directly or over the phone, but I appreciate that she acknowledged Team Tukaram Mundhe,” he told reporters.
He emphasized the importance of public support in promoting food safety, stating, “People with good intentions exist at every level of society. We should come together to support these positive causes and promote good ideas and actions.”
However, Mundhe also underscored that actions speak louder than words. Referring to Zinta’s T-shirt, he said, “Wearing a shirt that says ‘Team Tukaram Mundhe’ is just a start. It’s not enough; we need to take real action and adopt the right mindset.”
Zinta’s display of support came at a time when Maharashtra’s food-safety enforcement efforts are under the spotlight. Her gesture received widespread attention on social media, prompting a recognition from Mundhe.
Currently, Tukaram Mundhe serves as the Commissioner for the Maharashtra FDA, which oversees regulations related to food, medicines, and cosmetics throughout the state.
