Ranveer Singh’s Father Takes Legal Action for ₹45 Crore Don 3 Damage Claim, Reports Say

Ranveer Singh’s father, Jagjit Singh Bhavnani, has taken steps to resolve an ongoing dispute concerning the film Don 3. He recently contacted the Indian Motion Picture Producers Association (IMPPA) and met with their representatives. During this meeting, he provided documentation supporting Ranveer’s position in the matter.

As reported by India Today, the legal team at IMPPA will review the documents submitted by Bhavnani before deciding on the next steps. There is a possibility that they may find a way to mediate the conflict between Ranveer and Excel Entertainment, the production company behind Don 3.

The crux of the dispute lies in Excel Entertainment’s claim for damages estimated at around ₹45 crores. This financial request is a result of Ranveer’s withdrawal from the project shortly before filming was set to begin, which the producers argue led to significant losses related to preparations and other arrangements.

Previously, IMPPA President Abhay Sinha mentioned that Ranveer’s legal team expressed a willingness to engage in the proceedings. With new information now provided by both parties, the association is expected to carefully consider the case before determining how to move forward.

What is the Don 3 dispute about?

Ranveer Singh was announced as the lead actor for Don 3 in August 2023, taking over the iconic role previously portrayed by Shah Rukh Khan. However, reports surfaced later indicating that Ranveer had chosen to exit the project.

This situation escalated when Excel Entertainment, led by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani, sought compensation for the financial repercussions they faced due to Ranveer’s departure. The matter has also involved industry organizations, including the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE).

In May 2026, FWICE issued a directive for non-cooperation with Ranveer, adding complexity to the situation although the financial claims remain unsettled.

On a different note, Ranveer has started filming Pralay, a zombie thriller directed by Jai Mehta, which also stars Kalyani Priyadarshan. Production of the film has recently begun in Mumbai.
