Priyanka Chopra Jonas Teams Up with Russell Crowe in Exciting New Sci-Fi Film
Priyanka Chopra Jonas is stepping up her game in Hollywood with a thrilling new project. The talented actress will share the screen with Academy Award winner Russell Crowe in the upcoming sci-fi action film Bluefly. This exciting project will be directed by Nimród Antal, known for his work on Predators and Stranger Things. The screenplay is crafted by David Frigerio, William Eubank, and Carlyle Eubank.
This announcement comes after Priyanka’s recent casting opposite Orlando Bloom in the survival thriller Reset. Earlier this year, she led Prime Video’s film The Bluff, which reached the top spot globally. She also starred alongside Idris Elba and John Cena in the action-comedy Heads of State, which was among Prime Video’s most-watched films. Notably, Heads of State received a nomination for Outstanding Television Movie at the recent Primetime Emmy Awards. Priyanka was also nominated for Best Actress in an Action Movie at the Critics Choice Super Awards for her role in The Bluff. Her slate includes an upcoming appearance in S.S. Rajamouli’s Varanasi, set for release on April 7, 2027.
The production team behind Bluefly includes Michael Jefferson for Polite Society, David Frigerio for Broken Open Pictures, and several others. Highland Film Group will manage international distribution and plans to kick off international sales at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). Filming is slated to begin later this year on Australia’s Gold Coast.
The film’s plot unfolds in the Congo, where a grieving United Nations translator gets caught up in a secret mission to find a mysterious aircraft that officially doesn’t exist. Joined by a Special Operations team, the mission turns perilous as they navigate through militia territories, discovering that the aircraft was never intended to be found.
Arianne Fraser, CEO of Highland Film Group, expressed her enthusiasm about the project, stating, “We have a great cast led by Russell Crowe and Priyanka Chopra Jonas. This high-stakes sci-fi thrill ride has depth much like Denis Villeneuve’s Arrival.”
Director Nimród Antal shared his excitement too, saying, “Bluefly is an intense, character-driven thriller set against a bold sci-fi backdrop. It’s the type of film I love to create, and I couldn’t ask for a better cast to bring this vision to life.”
Russell Crowe, an Oscar winner known for Gladiator, continues to diversify his career with future projects including Unabomber, The Weight, and Billion Dollar Spy. Meanwhile, Priyanka Chopra Jonas remains a leading figure in the film industry, successfully balancing acting and production across various international projects. Bluefly is yet another noteworthy addition to her Hollywood journey.
