Gregory Carafello Celebrates 25 Years of Resilience at One World Trade Center

New York, NY – July 6, 2026 – Gregory Carafello, the Principal Broker of First Choice Business Brokers New York Metro, is celebrating a significant milestone—25 years of resilience and determination—connected to One World Trade Center. Carafello’s journey began tragically on September 11, 2001, when he lost his printing and graphics business, valued at $4 million, located in the World Trade Center.

Despite facing immense loss, Carafello persevered, ultimately rebuilding his career and life. Today, he operates from the 85th floor of One World Trade Center, a remarkable comeback that makes him the only business owner from the 407 companies that once called the Twin Towers home to return to this site. He moved into One World Trade Center on May 1, 2015, and has nurtured a successful career in franchise entrepreneurship.

“From the 85th floor, you can see for 50 miles on a clear day. It’s breathtaking,” Carafello shares, reflecting on his inspiring journey back to New York, which was sparked by a heartfelt conversation with his son, Gregory Jr.

Carafello’s mission extends beyond business. Since 2012, he has dedicated around 20 hours each month as a docent at the 9/11 Memorial Museum, where he educates visitors about the significance of that fateful day. His commitment to service has earned him a nomination for the Points of Light International award.

“Gregory’s story showcases remarkable resilience and commitment. His return to One World Trade Center represents hope and renewal for all,” said Sheelagh McClelland, Managing Editor at MyPortal Marketing Inc.

The Carafello family is actively involved in the business, with Carafello’s daughter, Juliet, working alongside him at First Choice Business Brokers, while his son, Paul, operates a Cartridge World franchise in the same building. The family motto, “Let a family business help other family businesses,” reflects their dedication to supporting fellow entrepreneurs.

As the 25th anniversary of September 11 approaches, First Choice Business Brokers New York Metro is open to media inquiries to discuss themes of resilience, entrepreneurship, and Carafello’s ongoing volunteer work at the 9/11 Memorial Museum.
