Gadag Seer Hospitalized After 33-Day Fast

Rachoteshwar Swamiji, the head of Budishwar Mutt in Antur-Bentur village, was hospitalized after completing a 33-day fast. He had been praying for sufficient rains in the region and was admitted to KH Patil Institute of Medical Sciences in Gadag on Sunday night.

Doctors reported that he is responding well to treatment. The seer had been meditating in a stone sanctum since June 3, sitting in a deep state of penance known as Shivayoga Samadhi. After his month-long meditation, a large group of devotees and fellow seers gathered to greet him, offering a traditional Indian holy ritual involving a sweet mixture called Panchamruta.

During his fast, it is said that he consumed extracts from neem and bael leaves. However, reports indicate that he experienced dehydration. Medical staff have performed several tests, and they expect him to recover soon. “He is doing well and may be discharged in a day or two,” they mentioned.
