CBI Expands Investigation into Actor Twisha Sharma’s Death

In a significant development, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has broadened its inquiry into the tragic death of actor and model Twisha Sharma. They are now tracing everyone her husband, Samarth Singh, communicated with immediately after her passing. The CBI is also seeking voice samples from both Samarth and his mother, Giribala Singh, and is attempting to access a locked laptop belonging to Samarth.

In a recent application submitted to the Judicial Magistrate, the CBI requested an extension of Samarth’s judicial custody until July 14, stating that they aim to track down individuals Samarth contacted on May 12 and 13, the days following the incident.

The CBI noted that the investigation is still ongoing. They mentioned that statements from key witnesses, including family members, friends, and relatives of Twisha, are yet to be recorded. These testimonies could shed light on important details about the case.

The court has granted a continuation of Samarth’s judicial custody. The CBI also informed the court that they are waiting on reports from the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) in New Delhi, which includes analyses from the crime scene and various exhibits collected during their investigation. Additionally, they are awaiting results from a second post-mortem examination carried out by a team from AIIMS in Delhi.

Digital Evidence Under Review

As part of their ongoing investigation, the CBI has recovered audio recordings from seized mobile phones that include conversations involving Samarth, Twisha, and her relatives. Therefore, they have applied to the court for permission to obtain the voice samples needed for a forensic comparison.

Separately, the agency also requested that Samarth provide the password for his sealed Apple laptop. Although the laptop has been sent to the CFSL for examination, forensic specialists have struggled to retrieve complete data due to its password protection. The CBI stated that Samarth, as the laptop’s owner, holds the key to accessing vital information for their investigation.

Twisha Sharma was discovered dead at her in-laws’ home in Katara Hills, Bhopal, on the night of May 12, just five months after marrying advocate Samarth Singh, the son of retired judge Giribala Singh.

Following concerns regarding the local police’s handling of the case, especially in terms of crime scene management and evidence collection, Twisha’s family requested a CBI investigation. Both Samarth Singh and Giribala Singh are currently in judicial custody as the inquiry continues.
