Elon Musk Promotes New Slogan for AI Chatbot Grok
Elon Musk has introduced a catchy new slogan for internet users that encourages them to rethink how they search for information. In a recent Twitter post, Musk responded with a simple "Yes" to a tweet from the Tesla Owners of Silicon Valley that read: "Don’t Google it. Grok it." Grok is the chatbot created by Musk’s company, xAI, designed to rival popular AI tools like OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google’s Gemini.
The buzz around Grok isn’t just limited to its slogan. The Tesla Owners account has shared various posts highlighting the impressive capabilities of Grok, such as the ability to generate realistic images. They’ve also provided guidance on how to download and utilize Grok’s features effectively.
For those unfamiliar, the term "Grok" originates from Robert A. Heinlein’s novel, Stranger in a Strange Land, where it describes a profound understanding of something.
Musk launched xAI in 2023 as a response to his concerns about OpenAI’s transition to a profit-driven model. He has criticized OpenAI’s direction, even filing lawsuits against the organization for straying from its original mission. Musk has been involved with OpenAI since its founding but stepped down from its board in 2018. Notably, OpenAI’s CEO Sam Altman dismissed Musk’s earlier attempt to buy the company as a tactic to impede its progress.
In a recent podcast with Joe Rogan, Musk demonstrated Grok by asking it various questions, including inquiries about the famous Fort Knox, known for its vast gold reserves. The AI’s evasive answers to sensitive topics garnered attention during the discussion.
Recently, xAI unveiled an upgraded version of Grok called Grok-3. This announcement follows OpenAI’s rejection of Musk’s $97.4 billion offer to acquire its nonprofit division. During a livestream, xAI claimed that Grok-3 surpasses the capabilities of OpenAI’s GPT-4o, Google’s Gemini, and several other leading chatbots in key areas like mathematics, science, and coding. According to Musk, Grok-3 is more powerful than its predecessor, with an impressive ten times the computational strength.
These claims have yet to be independently verified, intensifying the competition between xAI and OpenAI. Grok-3 is available for $22 per month for X Premium+ subscribers, making it accessible to a growing number of users interested in exploring its advanced features.
