Tech Trends to Watch For in 2025
The recent episode of The BetaKit Podcast focused on the anticipated developments in technology for the year 2025. As we kick off this new year, we’re exploring some key questions in tech and what we hope to see unfold.
In reflecting on past predictions, I enlisted the help of BetaKit reporters Madison McLauchlan and Josh Scott. Having participated in this kind of discussion before, Josh was ready to dive into the possibilities for 2025. Last year’s predictions covered everything from executive shifts to major tech events and policy changes, leading to some of our most talked-about stories in tech.
For 2025, both Madison and Josh brought forward engaging and relevant topics. Their inquiries ranged from the current landscape of cleantech and the rise of hybrid companies (often referred to as "centaurs") to the challenging environment for entrepreneurs in Canada. One of their questions even sparked debate among top executives at major corporations last week.
As for my contributions? I continued my focus on innovation policies and their effects on the Canadian tech scene, sprinkling in insights about the financial technology sector. My aim was clear: to stay true to my perspective rather than altering my approach for the new year.
So, what are the biggest questions we’re grappling with as we look to 2025? Let’s explore.
