A sequel to the popular film Pagglait is officially in the works, with Sanya Malhotra returning as the main character. This sequel, called Pagglait 2, reunites Sikhya Entertainment and Netflix India, who previously collaborated on the first film.
Director Umesh Bist, who also directed the original, is back to lead the project. He plans to continue the story with a fresh perspective while keeping the emotional and comedic elements that audiences loved about the first film.
It’s still unclear whether Pagglait 2 will carry on directly from the events of the 2021 movie or if it will introduce a new storyline that connects to similar themes. However, fans can expect the same unique mix of humor, grief, family dynamics, and self-discovery that made the original so appealing.
Production for the sequel is expected to start around August or September 2026. An official release date has not yet been announced.

Sikhya Entertainment, founded by Guneet Monga Kapoor and Achin Jain, is known for supporting many acclaimed projects such as the Oscar-winning documentary The Elephant Whisperers, and films like The Lunchbox and Kathal. The company also has more exciting projects in the works, including a new film from Karthik Subbaraj and a spy comedy titled Udta Teer, featuring Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan.
