PVR is set to host a special film festival celebrating the legendary filmmaker David Dhawan. This exciting event will take place from May 8 to May 26, allowing movie lovers to enjoy some of Dhawan’s beloved comedies on the big screen once again.
The festival’s announcement coincides with the rescheduling of Dhawan’s upcoming movie Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, starring his son Varun Dhawan. Originally slated for release on May 22, 2026, the film will now hit theatres on June 5, 2026. While the reasons for this change haven’t been disclosed, it follows adjustments made for another film, Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups, which faced its own delays.
As part of the festival, PVR will bring back five classic films that showcase David Dhawan’s successful career over the years. The line-up includes fan favorites such as Main Tera Hero, Partner, Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya, Raja Babu, and Aankhen.
David Dhawan is celebrated as one of the most successful comedy directors in Hindi cinema, known for creating entertaining films that blend humor, family themes, music, and star power. His movies have been enjoyed by audiences even years after their initial release.
This festival also emphasizes Dhawan’s collaborations with popular actors including Salman Khan, Govinda, and his son Varun Dhawan. For younger audiences, this event is a chance to experience these iconic films in theatres, while long-time fans can relive the laughter from an era that greatly influenced Bollywood comedy.
Meanwhile, all eyes are on the newly scheduled Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, which aims to continue the successful legacy of David and Varun Dhawan’s partnership at the box office.
