In a recent match at Old Trafford, India faced a challenging setback, losing to England by four wickets in the second T20I. With this defeat, India trails 0-1 in the five-match series. Ravi Bishnoi had a tough day on the field, giving away 60 runs in just three overs.
The turning point in the match came during the 17th over, where Bishnoi faced a barrage from England’s Jacob Bethell. With 49 runs needed off 24 balls, Bishnoi’s over resulted in a staggering 29 runs, tipping the scales in England’s favor.
This performance marked Bishnoi’s over as one of the costliest in T20I history for India, ranking third behind two other notorious overs. Unfortunately, he struggled with his accuracy, delivering three no-balls during his spell.
Despite this setback, Shreyas Iyer expressed confidence in Bishnoi’s ability to recover. In the post-match presentation, he noted, “I believe he will bounce back from this. It was a tough 17th over for him, but it’s a learning experience.”
On a brighter note for India, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi made headlines by becoming the youngest Indian to debut in international cricket, breaking Shafali Verma’s record set in 2019. Sooryavanshi marked his entry impressively, hitting 14 runs off nine balls, including two sixes. His fearless approach, particularly against bowlers like Jofra Archer, stood out.
Shreyas praised Sooryavanshi’s attitude and performance, stating, “His fearless style is exciting to watch. I didn’t see him getting nervous at all, especially considering his outstanding performances recently.”
Looking ahead, India will aim to even the series in the third T20I against England at Trent Bridge in Nottingham on Tuesday, July 7.
