The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction took place on November 24 and 25 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, marking a significant event for all ten franchises as they prepared for the upcoming season. A remarkable total of 577 players entered the bidding process, with 182 being sold for an astounding INR 639.15 crore, which is the highest spending recorded in the tournament’s history.

After a break of two and a half years, this mega auction featured several renowned cricketers fetching hefty prices, while some notable names surprisingly went unsold. Here are the key highlights from the IPL 2025 auction:

### Key Highlights from the IPL 2025 Auction

#### 1. Big Sales for Indian Stars
Notable Indian cricketers made headlines with their impressive sales figures. Rishabh Pant became the most expensive player ever in IPL auction history, going to the Lucknow Super Giants for a staggering INR 27 crore. Shreyas Iyer followed close behind, sold for INR 26.75 crore to Punjab Kings, while Venkatesh Iyer attracted a bid of INR 23.75 crore from Kolkata Knight Riders.

#### 2. Bowlers Making Waves
The auction saw bowlers getting recognition as well, with several players securing hefty deals. Arshdeep Singh, a key player from the T20 World Cup 2024, was sold to Punjab Kings for INR 18 crore, matching the price fetched by IPL’s top wicket-taker, Yuzvendra Chahal. Other bowlers like Jofra Archer and Josh Hazlewood were also sold for INR 12.50 crore each, highlighting the growing value of bowlers in the league.

#### 3. RCB’s Unexpected Decision
A surprising turn of events occurred when Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) chose not to use their Right to Match card for all-rounder Will Jacks. After an impressive previous season, Jacks was acquired by Mumbai Indians for INR 5.25 crore. This moment drew attention when Mumbai Indians owner Akash Ambani personally congratulated the RCB management after securing Jacks.

#### 4. Unfortunate Results for Legends
The auction also saw several established players, including Piyush Chawla, David Warner, and Steve Smith, go unsold. These cricketers, who have significantly contributed to the league over the years, were left without teams, a disappointing outcome for their supporters.

#### 5. Emerging Talents Left Out
Along with veteran players, several promising cricketers also went unsold including Adil Rashid and Prithvi Shaw. This outcome was unexpected for many fans who had anticipated stronger interest in these players’ skills.

#### 6. Youngest and Oldest Players in Auction History
In a remarkable moment, 13-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi became the youngest player ever sold during an IPL auction, fetching INR 1.10 crore from Rajasthan Royals after competitive bidding. Conversely, the oldest player, 42-year-old James Anderson, unfortunately went unsold despite being a household name in cricket.

#### 7. Uncapped Players Shine
Among uncapped players, Rasikh Salam Dar emerged as a star, being sold for INR 6 crore to RCB. Naman Dhir also made a mark, acquired by Mumbai Indians for INR 5.25 crore, while Abdul Samad and Nehal Wadhera each secured deals worth INR 4.20 crore from Lucknow Super Giants and Punjab Kings, respectively.

This IPL 2025 auction showcased significant activity and drama, setting the stage for an exciting season ahead.
