In 2024, re-releases of popular films became quite common. This trend really took off in 2025 when Sanam Teri Kasam broke records as the highest-grossing re-release. Fast forward to February 2026, and Salman Khan’s classic film Tere Naam (2003) returned to theaters and attracted audiences once again. Now, another beloved film featuring Salman is set for a comeback: Sanam Bewafa (1991).

The film will hit theaters on Friday, April 10. Currently, tickets are available in select cities such as Hyderabad, Indore, and Jalgaon in Maharashtra. However, sources in the film industry predict that more cinemas across various cities will soon take on Sanam Bewafa, especially as other films like Dhurandhar The Revenge are slowing down and Bhooth Bangla has been pushed back by a week, creating space for this re-release.

In Hyderabad, one of the theaters showcasing Sanam Bewafa is AMB Gachibowli, which will screen the film on its luxury recliner M B Luxe screen. Most screenings across the nation are expected to be in venues popular with the public.

Sanam Bewafa is notable for being the only film in which Salman Khan plays a character named Salman. It also marked the debut of actress Chandni and featured actors like Danny Denzongpa, Pran, Puneet Issar, and Jagdeep. This film was the first collaboration between Salman and director Saawan Kumar Tak, who later worked together on Chaand Kaa Tukdaa (1994) and Saawan… The Love Season (2006).

Reflecting on the film during its 30th anniversary in January 2021, Puneet Issar shared some cherished memories. He noted, “The film is timeless. The music by Mahesh-Kishor and Salman Khan’s charm were key to its success.” He recounted how Salman would compliment him, saying, “Punz, fantastic job.” They would often visit theaters to see audience reactions, recalling how people would throw coins at the screen and dance along, thoroughly enjoying the film.
