Deepti Sharma Shines in Women’s Asia Cup, Climbs ICC T20I Bowling Rankings

Deepti Sharma has been making waves in the ongoing Women’s Asia Cup, leading to a significant boost in the ICC Women’s T20I Bowling Rankings. The talented Indian all-rounder has climbed two spots to now stand at sixth in the rankings.

In just three matches of the tournament, Deepti has taken an impressive eight wickets, playing a crucial role in keeping India unbeaten and securing a spot in the semi-finals. This success comes at a great time, as India boasts two representatives in the top ten of the bowling rankings — Deepti and her teammate Sree Charani.

Charani holds the top spot with 779 rating points, while Deepti trails just behind, within 60 points. Other bowlers like Sophie Ecclestone, Charlie Dean, Nonkululeko Mlaba, and Lauren Bell occupy positions in between the two Indian players.

Deepti’s climb in the rankings is remarkable, especially considering her history since she first achieved the No.1 ranking for T20I bowlers back in December 2025. Her performance has firmly established her as a key player in this format.

At 27 years old, Deepti reached another significant milestone during the Asia Cup. She has now become the leading wicket-taker in Women’s T20 internationals, surpassing Thailand’s Thipatcha Putthawong. Deepti has taken 176 wickets in 152 matches, showcasing her talent and consistency in the shortest format of the game.

Her influence on the field has been evident throughout the Asia Cup. In India’s opening match against Thailand, she achieved exceptional figures of 3 wickets for no runs, becoming the first Indian woman to secure three or more wickets without conceding any runs in a Women’s T20I. She followed this feat with another outstanding performance against Hong Kong, China, claiming three wickets while allowing just nine runs.

Smriti Mandhana Climbs in T20I Batting Rankings

Meanwhile, Smriti Mandhana has strengthened her hold among the top T20I batters in the world, currently ranking fifth in the latest ICC rankings with 744 rating points.

Mandhana’s standing received a boost after a brilliant innings where she scored 124 runs off just 64 balls against Hong Kong, leading India to a commanding 137-run victory and securing their place in the semi-finals. In this innings, she showcased her talent with 14 fours and seven sixes, marking her second T20I century.

Additionally, this performance pushed Mandhana past the legendary Mithali Raj to become the leading run-scorer in women’s international cricket, with a total of 10,880 runs. Her century also increased her tally to 18 international centuries, the highest by any woman batter.

With Charani at the top of the bowling rankings, Deepti making her mark at sixth, and Mandhana firmly in the fifth position among batters, India is enjoying a strong presence in the T20I rankings. Their remarkable form has translated into victories on the field, as India heads into the semi-finals with an unbeaten record, amassing six points and a net run rate of 5.471 by winning all three of their matches.
