Trump Switches Stance, Backs House Move to Make Epstein Files Public

Trump Supports Release of Epstein Files Despite Previous Opposition

WASHINGTON: Former President Donald Trump announced on Sunday that he supports the release of more documents related to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. This marks a change from his earlier stance on the issue.

On his Truth Social platform, Trump urged House Republicans to vote in favor of making the Epstein files public, stating, “We have nothing to hide.”

At 79, Trump has faced criticism from Democrats, who allege that he is linked to an “Epstein hoax,” especially after emails surfaced suggesting that the disgraced financier claimed Trump was aware of Epstein’s activities involving young women. Critics argue that Trump may be trying to shield himself from scrutiny by opposing the vote to release these documents, a claim he denies.

This situation has sparked division within the Republican Party and created tension between Trump and some of his supporters in the Make America Great Again (MAGA) movement. Over the weekend, Trump notably withdrew his endorsement of Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene for her 2026 re-election campaign, signaling further rifts among party members.
