Elon Musk Deletes Controversial Trump-Epstein Claim Amid Public Feud

WASHINGTON: Tech entrepreneur Elon Musk has removed a surprising allegation that connected former President Donald Trump to convicted financier Jeffrey Epstein. Musk made the claim on social media during a heated exchange with Trump that unfolded this week.

In his post, Musk, who recently stepped down from his advisory role at the White House, suggested that Trump’s name appears in undisclosed government documents concerning Epstein’s associates. Epstein, notorious for his crimes, died by suicide in 2019 while facing serious charges related to sex trafficking.

The Trump administration has confirmed it is currently reviewing a large volume of documents, videos, and investigative materials that supporters of Trump’s “Make America Great Again” movement believe could reveal the involvement of various high-profile individuals in Epstein’s activities.

While Trump’s name was mentioned in documents released by a New York court earlier this year, he has not faced any accusations regarding the matter.

In a heated exchange, Musk had posted, “Time to drop the really big bomb: (Trump) is in the Epstein files,” as their public confrontation escalated. He suggested that this was the reason the files had not yet been made public, but did not provide specific details or evidence to support his statements.

Initially, Musk seemed to double down on his claims, stating that the truth would eventually emerge. However, he deleted both tweets by Saturday morning.

Some supporters of Trump, who hold conspiratorial views, argue that Epstein’s connections are being covered up by government officials, often blaming Democrats and celebrities, but not naming Trump specifically. No official confirmation has linked Trump to the unreleased files.

Trump has acknowledged knowing Epstein but has denied ever visiting Epstein’s private island, often implicated in the trafficking of minors. In a profile from the early 2000s, Trump described Epstein as a "terrific guy" who enjoyed the company of younger women.

Just last week, Trump praised Musk as he transitioned out of his role at the newly formed Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). However, their relationship quickly soured after Musk criticized a significant spending bill tied to Trump’s potential future presidency.

In response to Musk’s critique, Trump expressed his discontent in an Oval Office speech, leading to an explosive fallout that captured the attention of both Washington and social media.

Despite the dramatic exchange, both men appeared to take a step back from their feud, with Trump stating he wished Musk well, and Musk reciprocating the sentiment. However, reports of a potential conversation between them were denied by the White House.
