US-Iran Tensions: Netanyahu Presses Trump to Revive Military Action Against Iran

Iran Seeks Clarity Before Continuing Talks with the U.S.

Iran has expressed its willingness to keep negotiating with the United States. However, it is looking for clear signs that President Donald Trump can act independently, without the influence of Israel, according to Foad Izadi, an associate professor at the University of Tehran.

Izadi shared that many in Tehran believe the ongoing conflict is largely driven by Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, who has pulled the U.S. deeper into the situation. He noted, “In Tehran, there is a strong sense that this is Netanyahu’s war and that he has managed to involve the U.S. president in it.”

The Iranian position emphasizes the importance of achieving a ceasefire in all areas before any meaningful talks can progress. There are concerns about whether any agreements can truly be upheld. Izadi highlighted Lebanon as a critical example, pointing out that while there may be a formal ceasefire, violence persists at ground level.

“Lebanon is the litmus test,” Izadi stated, suggesting that Iran is looking to see if Trump can really lead a foreign policy that stands apart from Israeli interests.

He concluded that if Iran can secure a genuine ceasefire in Lebanon and an end to the conflict in various regions, then the door to negotiations can be opened.
