Film ‘Peddi’ Set for June 4 Release After Censor Changes
The eagerly anticipated film Peddi, starring Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor, is set to hit theatres on June 4. The filmmakers have completed the censor process ahead of schedule.
The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) granted Peddi a U/A 16+ rating, but specified several cuts and modifications. Some words, including terms seen as offensive or inappropriate, were required to be muted or altered. Additionally, a reference to “Rajasthan” and a mention of a specific community were instructed to be removed from the script. Fortunately, no cuts were made to the film’s action or violent scenes, although a particular visual involving a middle finger will be edited using CG effects.
Once the requested changes were implemented, the film’s censor certificate was issued on May 22. The final runtime of Peddi is listed as 189 minutes, or 3 hours and 9 minutes.
In this film, Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor are joined by notable actors like Shiva Rajkumar, Jagapathi Babu, Divyenndu, and Boman Irani. The project is both written and directed by Buchi Babu Sana, with production led by Venkata Satish Kilaru and co-produced by Ishan Saksena. The music is composed by Oscar-winner A.R. Rahman, and Jio Studios will handle distribution in North India, including an IMAX release.
During the trailer launch, Ram Charan shared a bit about the film’s production, mentioning the intense training sessions he had with real wrestlers. He sustained a cartilage tear while filming but expressed that the experience was worthwhile and cherished as a part of the journey in making Peddi.
