Actors Kajol and Kherin Sharma unveiled the trailer for their upcoming film Maa at a multiplex in Mumbai. They were supported by Ajay Devgn, who is both an actor and producer, alongside producer Kumar Mangat Pathak, director Vishal Furia, and creative producer Vishal Danish Devgn. R Madhavan made a surprise appearance, adding to the event’s excitement.

Kajol expressed her enthusiasm, saying, “This is the first time a mythological horror film is being attempted. I’m thrilled to be part of it with such a strong team behind me.”

One unique aspect revealed during the launch was that the names listed in the film’s credits included the mothers’ names as middle names. When questioned about this, Ajay Devgn explained, “We’re making a film called Maa. Traditionally, we mention fathers’ names, but we felt it was time to honor mothers. So, we decided to include their names in the credits.” This thoughtful gesture received a warm round of applause from the audience.

When the host asked about the casting process, Kajol joked, “It all started at home! Who else would he imagine in a horror role besides me?” Ajay laughed and replied, “Every husband would cast his own wife!”

On a more serious note, Ajay shared his thoughts about the film’s concept. “When Saiwyn Quadras presented this idea, I realized that while many horror films are being made, no one has tried a mythological horror film, even though our mythology is rich with stories. In Hollywood, they create characters without drawing from their own mythology. We have such a wealth of content, and we wanted to explore this. The mother’s character is pivotal. Who better than her?” he stated, pointing to Kajol.

Maa is also produced by Jyoti Deshpande of Jio Studios. Ajay praised her, saying, “She’s been a fantastic supporter of good cinema and always stands by us in our projects. We’re grateful for her partnership.” Jio Studios and Devgn Films lead the way in the mythological horror genre, previously collaborating on the film Shaitaan (2024), which also explored this theme.
