LANXESS and HINCOL Partner to Enhance Asphalt Technology in India
LANXESS, a well-known specialty chemicals company, has recently joined forces with Hindustan Colas Private Limited (HINCOL) by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This collaboration aims to explore innovative bitumen and asphalt modification technologies, which are critical for improving India’s infrastructure.
The agreement outlines plans for both companies to work together on technical evaluations, commercial trials, and market development projects. The goal is to enhance the quality of roads, boost efficiency in production, and promote sustainable construction practices throughout the country.
As part of the partnership, the companies will assess LANXESS’ Addipave® CR 36, a cutting-edge cross-linking technology for Polymer Modified Bitumen (PMB). This evaluation will involve laboratory tests and large-scale trials to see how this technology can improve production efficiency, product consistency, and overall quality in modified bitumen formulations.
In this collaboration, LANXESS will bring its expertise, technology, and trial support, while HINCOL will provide the necessary testing facilities and practical evaluations that are specific to India’s conditions. The primary aim is to determine how well this technology meets local needs and to find ways to implement it more widely in road construction.
The MoU also includes the promotion of Addipave® WM 23, which is LANXESS’s technology for Warm Mix Asphalt. Through joint trials, both companies will evaluate how to lower production and paving temperatures for asphalt while still ensuring that road performance standards are met. The advantages of this approach may include reduced energy use, lower emissions, and improved working conditions, contributing to environmental sustainability throughout the paving process.
With India’s transportation infrastructure rapidly expanding, there is a pressing need for road construction solutions that are durable, efficient, and environmentally responsible.
