Microsoft Introduces New Voluntary Exit Program for Employees

REDMOND, Wash. — Microsoft has announced a new option for employees in four countries to voluntarily leave the company with support. This program, called the Voluntary Exit Offer (VEO), is designed to provide financial assistance and career planning resources to those considering their next steps outside the company.

Amy Coleman, Microsoft’s executive vice president and chief people officer, emphasized that this initiative is targeted at employees who might be thinking about moving on. She explained that the VEO offers these individuals a chance to transition smoothly with the necessary support. This program also allows different teams within the company to adjust their workforce according to their needs.

The VEO will be available for a limited time and is open to eligible employees at level 70 and below in participating organizations located in Canada, India, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Coleman noted that not every organization will participate, as the choice depends on each business’s specific goals and requirements.

Eligible employees can look forward to receiving an email that includes details about their individual Voluntary Exit Offer. Coleman characterized this initiative as a new strategy for Microsoft and expressed the company’s intention to gather insights from it. She mentioned that this new program builds on lessons learned from Microsoft’s earlier Voluntary Retirement Program.
