A software company based in Santa Clara has reached a settlement of $2 million and will face a two-year exclusion from a program that helps foreign workers obtain permanent residency. This agreement comes as part of a settlement with the Trump administration.

This announcement, made on Friday by the Justice and Labor Departments, resolves an administrative case against Cloudera Inc. The Department of Justice had claimed that the company wrongly favored foreign workers over American applicants during its hiring process, violating the Immigration and Nationality Act.

In response, the Department of Labor took the unusual step of suspending Cloudera from the permanent labor certification program, highlighting the seriousness of the situation.
