Samsung Semiconductor Expands Presence in San Jose with New Office Acquisition

SAN JOSE – Samsung Semiconductor has expanded its operations in San Jose by acquiring another office building close to its existing headquarters in Silicon Valley.

This recent acquisition marks Samsung’s second office purchase in about 20 months, both situated near its campus located at North First Street and West Tasman Drive in North San Jose. In a public document filed on October 15, it was revealed that Samsung invested $29.5 million in cash for a research and office building located at 3775 North First Street.

The newly acquired building spans 68,000 square feet and sits on 4.6 acres, according to information from CBRE, a commercial real estate company.

Earlier in February 2025, Samsung purchased another building at 3725 North First for $27 million. This facility is slightly larger, covering 70,700 square feet on a 5.2-acre lot, and was previously owned by Apple.

“This acquisition demonstrates Samsung’s faith in the Silicon Valley market,” commented David Sandlin, an executive vice president at Colliers, a leading commercial real estate firm. He also highlighted the ongoing strength of the North San Jose office market.

The latest building was sold by Sacramento-based firm SVP Management, which bought it in 2018 for $18.2 million. This indicates a remarkable rise in the property’s value, up by about 60% in eight years.

Together, Samsung’s two recent acquisitions provide the company with a total of 138,700 square feet of office space, potentially accommodating around 500 to 700 employees. Additionally, this expansion gives Samsung control over nearly 9.8 acres of land adjacent to its main campus, paving the way for future redevelopment opportunities.

“It’s great news to see Samsung continuing to grow in North San Jose,” Sandlin added.
