Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his heartfelt congratulations to India’s athletes for their outstanding performances at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games. He recognized their dedication and passion, which brought great pride to the nation.

As the games wrapped up in Nagoya, Modi took a moment to honor every member of the Indian team, especially those who returned home with medals. In a message posted on X, he remarked, “As we conclude the Asian Games 2026, I commend each member of the Indian contingent for showcasing our national spirit with determination and enthusiasm.”

The Prime Minister particularly highlighted the success of India’s medal winners, saying their achievements have brought “immense joy” to the country. He also expressed hopes that the Games would inspire even more accomplishments in the future and help strengthen sports at the grassroots level.

India finished its campaign in a commendable fourth place in the overall standings, collecting a total of 85 medals. This impressive tally included 21 gold, 27 silver, and 37 bronze medals.

Throughout the Games, Indian athletes showcased their talents across various disciplines, excelling in sports such as shooting, athletics, wrestling, boxing, badminton, and team events. The last two days of competition were particularly fruitful for India, with the team securing 11 gold medals, affirming their position among the top four sporting nations in Asia.

China topped the medal table, followed by Japan and South Korea, with India holding the fourth spot. The Aichi-Nagoya Games brought together athletes from all over Asia for over two weeks of thrilling competition, culminating in a grand closing ceremony at Mizuho Park Athletic Stadium in Nagoya on Sunday.

As India looks ahead to its future sporting endeavors, the experiences gained from the Asian Games will be invaluable in preparing for major international events and working toward the country’s Olympic dreams. For the athletes, the Games served as a platform for remarkable performances, significant breakthroughs, and valuable lessons that will propel them toward even greater success on the world stage.
