Kakamigahara, September 24, 2026: Hockey India has extended its heartfelt congratulations to star midfielder Vivek Sagar Prasad, who has achieved a remarkable career milestone of 200 senior international appearances for the Indian men’s hockey team. Vivek reached this significant achievement during India’s third Pool A match against South Korea at the Asian Games 2026 taking place in Japan.
At just 26 years old, Vivek made his senior international debut in 2018. Since then, he has become a key player for the Indian team, admired for his calm demeanor, versatility, and ability to step up during crucial moments in a game. He has played in numerous historic matches, including India’s stunning journey to win bronze at the Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
Vivek also contributed to the team’s victories in the past, including a gold medal at the 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou and a bronze at the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta. His impressive collection of medals doesn’t stop there—he also earned a silver at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham and another at the 2018 Champions Trophy in Breda.
His impressive accolades include two gold medals at the Hero Asian Champions Trophy, where he participated in India’s triumphs in 2023 and 2024, along with a key role in the 2025 Asia Cup victory. In recognition of his exceptional contributions to hockey, Vivek was awarded the prestigious Arjuna Award in 2021.
To celebrate this noteworthy accomplishment, Vivek was honored with a special commemorative jersey by India’s Chief Coach Craig Fulton, acknowledging his 200 senior international appearances.
