Bayer has announced an ambitious plan to launch ten major agricultural products, which they categorize as “blockbusters”, over the next decade in key farming areas worldwide. A “blockbuster” in this context refers to a product expected to generate sales of at least €500 million.

Some of these products are already on the market, including the insecticide called ‘Plenexos’ and the ‘Preceon Smart Corn System’. The latter has begun its rollout in several countries like Mexico, Italy, Spain, and the United States, with plans to launch in Argentina soon.

Looking ahead, Bayer has plans to introduce ‘Vyconic 1’, an innovative soybean solution, in the United States and Canada next year. Additionally, another product called ‘Intacta 5+’ is on track to be launched for Brazilian farmers during the 2027-28 growing season. However, these products will not be available for purchase or planting until they successfully clear the necessary regulatory approvals.

Rodrigo Santos, a member of Bayer’s Board of Management and head of the Crop Science Division, highlighted the company’s commitment to delivering impactful new products for farmers. He stated that by integrating seed technology with crop protection solutions, Bayer aims to provide comprehensive tools that help farmers optimize their yields and improve profits.

Bayer is also adopting a tailored approach for each of its agricultural segments, focusing on the unique needs of farmers and the specific challenges faced in different regions. This strategy leverages the company’s size and expertise to better serve growers with innovative solutions.

In the realm of pest control, ‘Plenexos’ has been introduced in Colombia, with plans for launches in Mexico, Brazil, and the United States soon. Meanwhile, the ‘Vyconic’ soybean trait will be a groundbreaking development, offering resistance to five different herbicides, which will assist farmers in managing weed growth and resistance challenges.

Moreover, ‘Intacta 5+’ aims to provide Brazilian farmers with not only multiple herbicide tolerances but also enhanced insect protection tailored to their specific market needs.

Looking to the future, Bayer’s portfolio of upcoming blockbusters includes advanced corn rootworm protection and a new herbicide called ‘Icafolin’, projected to generate sales of around €750 million by the mid-2030s. Collectively, these ten blockbuster products are designed to tackle significant challenges faced by farmers today and are set to play a vital role in Bayer’s growth over the next decade.
