Mary Mytting, the executive director of the Northern Innovation Network, will be the first mentor in this program. With years of experience in various businesses and having founded a charity in South Africa, she brings a wealth of knowledge to the table. Mytting believes that sharing her successes and mistakes can help students looking to start their own businesses.
The mentorship program goes beyond just advice. Students will engage in personalized mentoring sessions, workshops, and hands-on learning experiences. This setup will expose them to real business scenarios, helping them tackle real challenges that entrepreneurs face.
Mytting is eager to guide students who are thinking about starting their own businesses. “If they have an idea, I’ll help them turn it into a solid plan,” she said.
While the program initially targets Business Administration students, its benefits will reach students from various disciplines, including Health Sciences, Human Services, Trades, and Applied Arts. “Our mentorship model is flexible to suit any student’s path,” said Male, a representative from CNC. The college understands that entrepreneurship isn’t just for business majors; students in all fields may want to innovate and lead in their industries.
