The highly anticipated film Toxic is set to hit theaters tomorrow, and the excitement is palpable with strong advance ticket sales. The original Kannada version of the movie received its certification on August 13, but the Hindi dubbed version had a delayed approval, which was finalized just today, August 25—only a day before its release.
In the Hindi version, several edits were made as required by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). Notable changes included the replacement of an offensive word and muting a dialogue that was deemed abusive towards a child. Additionally, some scenes depicting drug use were trimmed down, and an ‘obscene’ dialogue was replaced. The statutory warning, which was initially in Tamil, was also changed to Hindi for the final cut of the film.
After these edits, Toxic secured an ‘A’ (adult) certificate. According to the censor certificate, the film runs for a total of 194.12 minutes, which translates to 3 hours, 14 minutes, and 12 seconds.
In the meantime, the Tamil version of Toxic received its certification on August 20, with a minimal edit—just one dialogue, which included a derogatory term, was replaced.
The film stars popular actors including Yash, Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria, and Akshay Oberoi. It is directed by Geetu Mohandas and produced by Venkat K Narayana’s KVN Productions, along with Yash’s Monster Mind Creations LLP.
In other updates, ticket bookings for Toxic in the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana regions officially opened earlier today, following delays. The government of Telangana has allowed theaters to hike ticket prices from August 26 to September 4, with single-screen theaters permitted to increase rates by ₹50 and multiplexes by ₹100. These changes will include GST in the total price. Additionally, producers are required to contribute ₹1 crore to the Telugu Film Industry Employees’ Welfare Committee Account.
