Pakistan’s Military Hits Back at India’s ‘Bollywood-Inspired’ Documentary – Asia News Network

ISLAMABAD – On Tuesday, Pakistan’s military communication wing criticized India’s recent documentary about its military operation known as ‘Operation Sindoor’. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) claimed that the film was more of a “propaganda production” than a factual recounting, aimed at portraying a significant military mistake as a success.

In their statement, ISPR pointed out that even after more than a year since the military clash referred to as “Marka-i-Haq” (Battle of Truth) – which began with the Pahalgam attack on April 22, 2025, and concluded with a ceasefire facilitated by the United States on May 10, 2025 – India continues to deny its setbacks.

The ISPR criticized the documentary for its dramatic flair and misleading claims, stating, “To distort the reality, Indian filmmakers have created a highly embellished and inaccurate portrayal of Operation Sindoor, presenting it as a military triumph.”

Operation Sindoor refers to India’s military actions against Pakistan on May 7, 2025. The ISPR highlighted flaws in the documentary’s narrative, suggesting it mixes elements of both tragedy and comedy. It accused the filmmakers of selectively editing interviews and using emotional storytelling to misrepresent the situation and alter the facts on the ground.

The statement also pointed out contradictions in the documentary, noting that it attempted to link the army chief’s speech on April 16, 2025, to the events of the Pahalgam incident just days later, essentially trying to create a baseless conspiracy theory.

Most notably, the ISPR remarked that India claimed to have targeted the supposed attackers of Pahalgam on July 28, 2025, which was long after the purported Operation Sindoor. This led ISPR to question who exactly India claimed to have punished on May 7 if the alleged perpetrators hadn’t been dealt with until July.

The military spokesperson further addressed the documentary’s assertion of a “100 per cent mission success,” dismissing it as misguided. During the “Marka-i-Haq”, Pakistan reportedly thwarted Indian advances, shooting down eight Indian aircraft and, later, conducting Operation Bunyanum Marsoos, where targeted military installations were engaged.

The ISPR noted that despite claims of victory, the Indian military’s admissions of intensive combat activity near the Line of Control contradicted the narrative of an outright triumph.

Moreover, the documentary’s description of how the hostilities concluded indicated that the cessation of military actions was a mutual agreement and not just a one-sided victory for India. With assistance from the United States, the end to hostilities did not support the exaggerated claims presented in the film.

Lastly, ISPR pointed out inconsistencies within the documentary regarding how the conflict escalated. It emphasized surprise attacks and decisive strikes, yet also implied that India limited its military actions, contradicting their own claims.

The ISPR concluded that India had not revealed the full truth and had instead created a polished story to mask their military shortcomings. “No level of cinematic storytelling can undo the factual timeline or alter the real outcomes of the conflict,” the statement said.

Pakistan reaffirmed its dedication to maintaining peace and stability in the region while ensuring its military is adequately prepared to defend the nation’s interests against future threats. Any further aggression from India, according to the ISPR, would prompt a strong and decisive response.
