Ongoing Discussions Between Mercy Health and Medical Mutual
Mercy Health and Medical Mutual of Ohio are currently in negotiations as their contract approaches its expiration. If a new agreement isn’t reached by December 31, the existing contract will end, which could impact patients covered by Medical Mutual.
In a message to their patients, Mercy Health reassured them that they are “actively working toward a new agreement” with the insurance provider. If they fail to finalize a deal by January 1, 2027, it means that all Mercy Health doctors, hospitals, and care facilities in Ohio will no longer be included in the Medical Mutual network.
However, Mercy Health noted that emergency services will still be available to all patients, irrespective of their network status. Moreover, patients who are undergoing continuing care for chronic or complex health issues might be eligible for care at Mercy Health locations under Continuity of Care protections.
Mercy Health understands the importance of receiving care from familiar healthcare teams and remains committed to finding a solution that ensures access to affordable, high-quality care. They have promised to keep patients informed throughout this process.
Patients can rest assured that, until the end of the year, there will be no changes, and all scheduled appointments will proceed as planned. Those with Medical Mutual coverage are encouraged to reach out to the provider for more details on how their insurance may be affected. Additionally, individuals who are covered through their employer should connect with their workplace benefits representative for assistance.
