Allu Arjun’s Raaka May Release as a Two-Part Film
Allu Arjun’s eagerly awaited film Raaka, directed by Atlee, is considering a significant change in its release format. Reports indicate that the team is exploring the option of splitting the film into two parts due to its extensive storyline.
The production of Raaka has been ongoing for over a year, and the amount of footage shot has exceeded what can fit into a typical three-hour runtime. With several months of filming still to go, sticking to a single film format is becoming increasingly challenging, according to a source involved in the project.
While the idea of a two-part release is still under discussion, Atlee is carefully evaluating how to structure the story. A final decision will be made after filming concludes. The cast, including Allu Arjun, is fully supportive of Atlee’s vision and is allowing him the necessary time to bring the ambitious project to life.
Allu Arjun is committed to filming until December before shifting his focus to Lokesh Kanagaraj’s superhero movie next year. The main production of this high-budget, VFX-heavy film is projected to continue until early 2027, with hopes for a theatrical release in the latter half of that year.
Sun Pictures, which is backing this project with a remarkable budget of Rs. 800 crore, is reportedly in favor of the two-part format. They believe this could allow greater creative flexibility for Atlee and ease the financial pressure related to the film’s success. However, splitting the film carries risks, as the performance of the second part will depend on the audience’s reception of the first.
This strategy mirrors what was recently done with Aditya Dhar and Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar. Initially intended as a single film, Dhurandhar was divided into two parts just months before its release due to the realization that its extensive footage couldn’t fit into a standard runtime. This decision ended up being a success, turning the film into a major blockbuster.
Raaka aims to be a groundbreaking visual experience, utilizing cutting-edge effects and imaginative world-building. With a stellar cast that includes Deepika Padukone, Mrunal Thakur, Rashmika Mandanna, and Janhvi Kapoor alongside Allu Arjun, the film is gearing up to be one of the most anticipated releases of 2027.
