Excitement Grows for “Ramayana” as Trailer Finally Drops
The buzz surrounding the upcoming film Ramayana has been soaring in recent months, and it’s easy to see why. The promotional efforts kicked off more than a year ago, in July 2025, with events held around the globe. Finally, fans got a glimpse of the highly anticipated trailer on the morning of July 30. A select group had the chance to view the trailer ten days earlier in a Mumbai theater, and it was clear that the 3D experience was something special.
In this visually stunning trailer, the focus shifts from Lord Rama, portrayed by Ranbir Kapoor, to introduce a variety of other vital characters. The standout, however, is Ravana, played by Yash. The trailer opens with his powerful presence, showcasing an intense and captivating performance. While other actors have played Ravana, Yash brings a unique flair to the role that viewers are sure to appreciate.
Ranbir Kapoor, as Lord Rama, offers a graceful and divine counterbalance to Ravana’s fierce demeanor. Sai Pallavi also shines as Sita, embodying a poise that feels both authentic and compelling. Additional cast members include Lara Dutta, Rakul Preet Singh, Ravie Dubey, Arun Govil, and Vivek Oberoi, although fans will notice that Sunny Deol, who plays Lord Hanuman, is absent from the trailer. Nevertheless, the footage provides enough excitement to keep anticipation high for Ramayana.
The visual scale of the film is impressive, especially with the inclusion of stunning 3D effects. A memorable moment features Airavata, the divine white elephant, which definitely showcases the film’s ambition. However, some feel the scale may not quite surpass the breathtaking visuals of Baahubali, which raises expectations given the film’s substantial budget exceeding Rs. 1,000 crores.
The trailer’s release is expected to draw significant viewership, especially as it will be featured alongside Spider-Man: Brand New Day in theaters. This superhero film is poised for a massive opening in India, providing Ramayana with an ideal platform to reach a wider audience. The trailer accomplishes its goal, and it’s clear that Ramayana is gearing up for a grand debut this Diwali.
Starring Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, Yash, and Sunny Deol, with direction by Nitesh Tiwari of Dangal fame, Ramayana promises to be a visual treat. The music is crafted by renowned composers A R Rahman and Hans Zimmer, adding to the film’s allure. The first installment is set to release on Diwali 2026, with the second part following in Diwali 2027, ensuring that viewers have much to look forward to in the coming years.
