Actor Sana Saeed, who gained fame as young Anjali in the classic film “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai,” has opened up about her personal struggle with bulimia. Now running her own production company in Los Angeles, Sana revealed that she battled the eating disorder for several years without understanding what she was going through.

In a recent interview, Sana shared that she spent six years grappling with her condition before receiving a proper diagnosis. Following her diagnosis, it took her an additional four years to fully recover.

Reflecting on her journey, Sana expressed feelings of shame, believing she was alone in her struggles. “For six years, I had no name for what I was going through,” she said. This lack of understanding added to her isolation. The turning point came when she found a book on recovery that helped her articulate her experiences and guided her towards a healthier relationship with food.

Sana decided to speak out publicly only after she had healed, hoping her story would resonate with others facing similar challenges. “If my story can help even one person feel less alone, that’s worth any discomfort I feel in sharing it,” she stated.

The former child star also discussed the pressure to conform to certain beauty standards in the entertainment industry. She noted how conversations in college often revolved around weight loss and dieting, which complicated her self-image while working in front of the camera. Reflecting on her past, she admitted she didn’t have the emotional tools then to separate her self-worth from her appearance—a clarity she has gained through her recovery.

Sana’s courage in sharing her story serves as an inspiration and a reminder of the importance of understanding and compassion in dealing with personal struggles.
