Mirabai Chanu Focuses on Asian Games Over Commonwealth Games
Mirabai Chanu has announced that she will not be giving her all at the Commonwealth Games, as she is setting her sights on the Asian Games later this year. The Tokyo Olympics silver medalist shared that she will not attempt the challenging 90kg snatch lift in Glasgow. Instead, her training is focused on performing at her best for the Asian Games, where she aims to secure her first gold medal.
“I will not go all out in the Commonwealth Games. My main focus is the upcoming Asian Games, which are just around the corner,” Chanu told PTI.
Despite her decision to take a cautious approach, the Indian weightlifting champion is still seen as a strong contender to defend her title at the Commonwealth Games.
