Apple Introduces Siri AI for Public Testing
In a significant move, Apple has opened up its new Siri AI for public testing, allowing users to get a sneak peek of the enhanced voice assistant on iPhones. This introduction follows its unveiling at the recent developer conference and comes with the launch of the iOS 27 public beta.
If you own a compatible iPhone, you can download this beta version. Keep in mind, however, that access to Siri AI will only be available on certain iPhone models, and interested users may need to join a waitlist.
Siri AI represents Apple’s ambitious step into the world of artificial intelligence, an area where the company has been playing catch-up with rivals like OpenAI and Google. According to Apple, the updated Siri is a “much more capable assistant,” designed to help users with tasks such as checking concert dates, setting reminders for ticket purchases, and even providing directions to venues. Notably, Siri’s camera feature can identify images and offer useful information, including nutritional facts about food items.
Early feedback from testers has been positive, with many users appreciating how well Siri AI integrates into the overall iPhone experience. This new assistant utilizes Apple’s advanced foundational models, optimized for Apple Silicon, enhancing performance and efficiency.
Apple plans to launch a standalone Siri AI app later this year. However, users in Europe and China will need to wait as the company navigates regulatory hurdles in these regions.
Besides Siri AI, iOS 27 brings a host of improvements to the iPhone, including new photo editing tools, better child safety features, and automatic password management enhancements. The update also boosts app launch speeds by 30%, photo loading times by 70%, and AirDrop transfers by up to 80%.
Compatible iPhones include the iPhone 11 series and newer. Note that certain features may be limited based on your specific iPhone model. For example, Siri AI is currently available only on the iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, and iPhone Air.
