Days after Aamir Khan tied the knot with his long-time partner Gauri Spratt in a small, private ceremony, a cleric has reportedly issued a fatwa against him. This religious decree objects to their interfaith marriage.

According to reports, Maulana Ibrahim Hussain, the Chief Mufti of the Muslim Personal Darul Ifta, stated that Aamir’s marriage is not allowed under his understanding of Islamic law because Gauri is not a Muslim.

In a video that has circulated online, the cleric commented, “For a Muslim man, marrying a non-Muslim woman is forbidden.” He elaborated that Muslims who engage in such marriages are committing a sin and that according to his interpretation of Sharia, these actions are unacceptable. The cleric stressed that those who do not see this as wrong will ultimately face consequences from Allah.

### Cleric’s Comments on Aamir’s Marriage

Addressing Aamir directly, Maulana Ibrahim Hussain remarked: “This matter involves actor Aamir Khan, who has recently married a non-Muslim. We have observed protests in society regarding this.”

He also spoke about the challenges of multiple marriages, stating that if someone cannot fulfill their marital duties, they should refrain from marrying again. The cleric insisted that a Muslim man cannot marry a non-Muslim woman unless she converts to Islam.

### Aamir Khan’s Recent Wedding

Aamir Khan’s wedding to Gauri Spratt took place on July 5, 2026, at his home in Mumbai, following the Special Marriage Act. The event was intimate, with only close family and friends in attendance.

Previously, Aamir was married to Reena Dutta, with whom he shares two children, Junaid and Ira. The couple divorced in 2002 after 16 years of marriage. He later married filmmaker Kiran Rao in 2005, whom he met during the making of “Lagaan.” They welcomed their son, Azad, via surrogacy in 2011 but announced their separation in 2021. Despite their separation, they have continued to co-parent Azad and remain friendly collaborators.

As of now, neither Aamir Khan nor Gauri Spratt has publicly addressed the fatwa or the cleric’s remarks.
