New Delhi:
The Delhi High Court Bar Association (DHCBA) has announced a work strike for July 14. This decision comes after the high court supported increasing the financial limit for district courts from ₹2 crore to ₹10 crore.
In a statement from their executive committee, the DHCBA expressed concerns that this change would greatly affect the justice system and the livelihoods of many lawyers. They believe it could lead to a 70% reduction in cases heard at the high court.
The DHCBA held an emergency meeting on July 13, where members unanimously decided to abstain from work to voice their opposition to the proposed changes. The resolution emphasized their disagreement with the enhancement despite recognizing the full court’s perspective.
