Controversial Video Sparks Debate in Cricket Community
After the IPL 2026 season wrapped up, a fake video involving Rajasthan Royals’ rising star, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, caused quite a stir online. The misleading clip portrayed Sooryavanshi as calling Virat Kohli “slow” and “selfish.” This was supposedly in response to a question from commentator Harsha Bhogle about whether he aimed to become a “king” like Kohli. However, it has since been confirmed that the video is completely manufactured.
Bhogle took to social media to clarify the situation. He firmly denied having asked such a question and stated that Sooryavanshi never made the alleged comments. “There’s a fake dubbed clip of me and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi circulating online. It makes him seem rude and arrogant. This is not true; that question was never asked, nor did he respond like that. It’s unfair, especially to a young player who has always shown respect,” Bhogle wrote.
Multiple versions of this misleading clip have been shared online, all portraying Sooryavanshi in a negative light.
Bond Between Kohli and Sooryavanshi
In reality, the relationship between Kohli and Sooryavanshi is warm and friendly. This was evident when they shared a moment after the IPL 2026 final between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Gujarat Titans. Footage released by the IPL showed Kohli congratulating the 15-year-old with the words, “Well played, young man,” to which Sooryavanshi respectfully responded with folded hands.
Kohli has expressed admiration for Sooryavanshi’s impressive performance throughout the tournament. After the young player received the Orange Cap for scoring the most runs—776 in total—Kohli was seen telling former teammate AB de Villiers, “This kid is special; he can bat.”
In a further display of support, Kohli even signed Sooryavanshi’s cap following his remarkable performance against RCB in Guwahati, leaving him with a special message.
As the cricket community reflects on the season, it’s crucial to focus on the true spirit of the game and the genuine connections between players.
