Commonwealth University to Launch New Healthcare Training Programs in Mansfield
Mansfield, PA – Starting in the fall of 2026, Commonwealth University will introduce new healthcare training programs at its Mansfield campus. This initiative aims to help meet the growing demand for healthcare workers in Tioga County and neighboring areas.
The new offerings will include programs for Clinical Medical Assistants (CMA) and Phlebotomy Technicians (CPT). These short-term training courses are designed to provide quick pathways into essential medical careers, tackling current workforce shortages in healthcare.
The CMA program will prepare students to take the Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) exam through the National Healthcareer Association (NHA). Similarly, the Phlebotomy Technician program will equip students for the NHA Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) exam. Both certifications are highly regarded among healthcare employers.
“It’s great to see these programs coming to Mansfield,” said Angie Hardy, director of workforce development. “They offer locals a fast track into the healthcare field and support our community’s long-term career goals.”
Graduates of the CMA program will be ready for a variety of roles, including:
- Clinical Medical Assistant
- Physician Practice Assistant
- Outpatient Care Technician
- Medical Office Assistant
Meanwhile, those completing the Phlebotomy program can seek positions such as:
- Phlebotomist
- Laboratory Assistant
- Patient Service Technician
Commonwealth University is also aiming to have these programs recognized on Pennsylvania’s High Priority Occupation (HPO) list. This would enable eligible individuals to access funding through the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) to help with tuition costs.
In addition to student enrollments, the university is currently looking for qualified healthcare professionals in the Mansfield area to teach these programs.
For those interested in enrolling for the fall 2026 offerings, more information can be found on the Commonwealth University Workforce Development Career Training page. Interested individuals can explore course details, schedules, and tuition, and get registration instructions.
