Six Portuguese Business Schools Shine in Global Rankings

Six business schools from Portugal have made their mark in a recent global ranking, with one school breaking into the top ten.

Top Performer
The highest-ranked Portuguese institution is Nova SBE Executive Education, which now stands at 9th place in the Customized Programs category. This is a significant leap from last year’s 15th position. Nova SBE now shares the spotlight with renowned institutions like the London Business School and IMD Business School.

Pedro Brito, CEO of Executive Education at Nova SBE, credited this achievement to a collaborative effort over time: “It reflects the hard work of our exceptional team, who continually challenge conventional methods. Our professors and specialists blend rigorous academics with real-world impact, aided by clients who push us to innovate and develop effective solutions for challenging situations.”

Professor Pedro Oliveira, Director of Nova SBE, emphasized that the school remains dedicated to its core values: academic quality, global ambition, and making a positive impact on organizations and society.

Rising Stars
The second Portuguese school, Iscte Executive Education, achieved its best-ever ranking. In the Customized Programs for Companies category, it jumped 13 spots from last year to 31st place globally, marking one of the biggest climbs in the rankings. In the Open-enrollment Executive Education category, Iscte climbed 16 positions, placing 51st worldwide.

José Crespo de Carvalho from Iscte remarked that these results signify international recognition for the school’s efforts, highlighting their close ties with businesses, innovative training programs, and enhanced global presence.

Consistent Recognition
Third on the list, ISEG Lisbon School of Economics and Management, maintained its position at 48th in the Customized Programs category. Joana Santos Silva, CEO of ISEG Executive Education, praised the school’s commitment to collaborating with businesses to create valuable and innovative solutions.

João Duque, ISEG’s President, noted that such rankings are not just goals but indicators of international standing. He believes that ISEG’s results reflect its consistency and competitive spirit in a tough global environment.

Commitment to Diversity
Porto Business School (PBS) achieved its highest ranking, moving up eight places to reach 35th in the Open Programs category. PBS is also notable for its gender balance, featuring an equal distribution of male and female participants, which highlights its dedication to diversity.

Dean José Esteves said, “This result confirms our international efforts and the recognition of our leadership training. Our 40-position jump since 2020 shows our steady growth and impact.”

PBS aims to support organizations in leading change, especially in areas influenced by new technologies and shifting landscapes.

A Legacy of Excellence
Catholica Lisbon School of Business and Economics earned its recognition for the 19th consecutive year, ranking 26th globally and 19th in Europe. This marks an 11-position leap compared to the previous year and represents its best ranking in nearly two decades.

Dean Filipe Santos attributed this success to the quality of the school’s faculty and the innovation present in its programs, which are vital in preparing leaders to anticipate and act on emerging trends.

Lastly, Católica Porto Business School made its debut in the Financial Times Executive Education Ranking, placing 85th in the Open Programs category.

In summary, these rankings highlight the commitment and hard work of Portuguese business schools in providing high-quality education and preparing leaders for the future.
