At Least Four Dead in Major Ukrainian Drone Attack Near Moscow
In a significant overnight drone attack, at least four individuals lost their lives, including three near Moscow, as reported by local officials.
Authorities revealed that a woman was killed when a drone struck her home in Khimki, a city located just northwest of the capital. Additionally, two men died in the village of Pogorelki, situated north of Moscow, according to Governor Andrei Vorobyev.
In Moscow, Mayor Sergei Sobyanin shared that at least 12 people were injured during the nighttime assault, primarily near the entrance of the city’s oil refinery. Fortunately, he noted that the refinery itself sustained no damage.
In the Belgorod region, also close to the border, one more fatality was reported.
According to Russia’s defense ministry, air defenses took down over 556 drones across the country. Overnight, 81 drones targeting Moscow were intercepted, marking one of the most significant attacks on the city in over a year, as reported by the state agency Tass.
Sheremetyevo Airport in Moscow confirmed that although drone debris was found on its premises, it did not cause any harm.
