The Role of AI in Creativity: A Double-Edged Sword

AI is changing the game in how we create and share ideas, according to expert Greene. For the first time, we have tools that allow us to easily swap out effort for finished products. This means that our essays can sound better, our presentations look sharper, and even our jokes at retirement parties can land perfectly.

However, Greene warns that this convenience might come at a cost. The process of thinking deeply, struggling through ideas, and having those enlightening moments is essential for our minds. It’s like working out at the gym: if a robot lifts the weights for you, you won’t gain any strength. In the same way, relying too much on AI might rob us of the valuable mental exercise we need.

While AI can help us polish our work, we shouldn’t forget the importance of our own creative struggles and breakthroughs.
